UNBOXING:
PHYSICAL ASPECTS:
Construction:
- Aesthetically very beautiful (subjective).
- Great unboxing experience.
- The shell is made of resin with an aluminum side panel.
- Removable (screw-on) nozzles.
- The extra nozzles are identical (in case of loss or damage).
- It has 3 vents per side.
- Excellent build quality.
- Great accessory kit.
- Excellent carrying case: rigid, spacious, lightweight, and elegant.
Eartips:
- Two types of tips: Colored (07) and Transparent (C04).
- Colored 07: S/M/L. Transparent C04: SS/S/M/L.
- Both are wider profile eartips, although they maintain the standard.
- The kit is interesting, but I prefer thinner eartips.
- I don’t like “liquid silicone” eartips (models similar to C04).
- Eartips are very subjective, even though the kit is good, I’ve used others.
- I did the review with the HE Sonic eartips (Size M).
Cable:
- Excellent cable. Positive point.
- High-quality cable.
- Available in the 4.4mm Bal version (at the time of purchase).
- Very light and thin cable.
- Excellent flexibility.
- Doesn’t get tangled.
- Doesn’t get “memory” (creases).
- The earhooks are excellent (no curling).
- No microphony.
- The chin slider can slip.
- Aesthetically, the cable could be black (subjective).
Fit and comfort:
- Excellent fit and comfort. Great stability.
- Very comfortable and lightweight, you forget you’re even wearing.
- Good shape for all ear types. Small size.
- Good for long hours of use.
- No protruding parts.
- Medium insertion.
- Great isolation.
Earphone kit (accessories):
- NX8 earphones.
- 3 pairs of eartips (sizes S/M/L).
- 4 pairs of eartips (sizes SS/S/M/L).
- Plastic case for storing the eartips.
- Cable.
- 2 pairs of nozzles (1 already installed).
- Cleaning brush.
- Velcro cable fastener.
- Carrying case.
- User guide, social media card, and QC pass.

SOUND ASPECTS:
Sound:
- Engaging, fun, and technical sound.
- Balanced tuning. W-shaped.
- All-rounder IEM. Matches with many genres.
- Delivers energy without being excessive. Coherent.
- Emphasized bass, linear mids and treble.
- Excellent resolution and detail.
- Technically very competent (for the price).
- Delivers a lot of texture and warmth.
- Up to $200 USD, it’s a great recommendation.
- On sale it’s around $150 USD, then it becomes a guaranteed recommendation.
Bass:
– Quantitative:
- Moderate to high bass.
- Could be an option for bassheads, but there are IEMs with more bass.
- Sub-bass and mid-bass with quite presence.
- A slight emphasis on sub-bass.
– Qualitative:
- The bass is full-bodied, rich, warm, and has good extension.
- It has a lot of mass, texture, and physicality.
- It has a more expansive characteristic, rather than being tighter.
- The definition is good.
- The impact is looser, instead of a dry punch.
- It doesn’t invade the mids.
- Depending on the recording, it can sound massive.
- The bass makes the presentation warmer, “cozy”.
- Bass drum beats are softer.
- In my opinion, the bass could be tighter.
- It’s not a drawback, it’s more a matter of taste.
- It’s the only part that I wish were different.
Mids:
– Quantitative and qualitative:
- Mids are “forward,” but not to the point of sounding “mid-centric”.
- Pinna gain is “forward,” but very coherent. Balanced.
- They can be seen as linear, but they are more forward than recessed.
- Excellent definition and detail.
- Excellent clarity, airy, and transparency.
- The mids have a great sense of speed and texture.
- The instrument sounds are very detailed and textured.
- I didn’t experience fatigue in the upper-mids.
- Tonally and technically, a well-implemented IEM (for the price).
- With wind instruments, you can hear the nuances of the air in the instruments.
- With guitars, it’s as if you can feel the vibration of the strings, the texture that the sound conveys.
Voices:
- Excellent for both voice types.
- Body, warmth, and texture for deeper voices.
- Detail, airiness, and life for higher voices.
- Great for whispering voices, due to the detail and texture.
Treble:
– Quantitative:
- Moderate treble frequencies.
- Not for trebleheads.
- Well-implemented treble frequencies.
- Balanced with the mids/upper-mids.
- I didn’t experience fatigue due to the treble frequencies.
– Qualitative:
- Linear, controlled, fast, and well-extended treble.
- Natural/coherent/alive sparkle.
- Good detail and airy. Excellent level of definition.
- They are not shrill, not sharp, not harsh.
- I didn’t experience sibilance, peaks, or coloration.
- Guitar solos have great energy and detail.
- Chimes and bells sound coherent in the presentation.
Soundstage:
- Excellent soundstage.
- It has a good sense of space, but it’s not that “spatial”.
- The more “forward” mids diminish the feeling of great spaciousness.
- The Quintet has more spatiality, but the mids are more recessed.
- Good in depth, height, and width.
- Along with the imaging, the IEM stand out.
Imaging:
- Excellent instrumental separation. A very positive point.
- The stereo image is also very good.
- The good resolution of the IEM helps a lot in this regard.
- Easy to identify the position of the instruments.
- Hybrids can convey a better sense of separation (isn’t a rule).
Driver flex test:
- The NX8 didn’t show driver flex characteristics.
Amplification:
- Easy to drive.
- Doesn’t require a powerful amplifier.
- A DAC/AMP dongle is sufficient.
- I tested the NX8 with the FiiO KA11.
- I also used the NICEHCK NK1 MAX.
- Both dongles did the job.
- Obviously, the KA11 pushes better (more powerful).
- KA11 at 20 and NK1 MAX at 30 (out of 100 available in W10).
PROS AND CONS:
– Aesthetically very beautiful (subjective)
– Great unboxing experience
– Great cost/benefit
– Excellent build quality
– Warm and technical sound
– Balanced/all-rounder tuning
– Excellent technicalities
– Excellent soundstage and imaging
– Easy to push
– Very comfortable to use
– Good for long hours of use
– Great cable
– Good pack of eartips
– Great case
– Extra nozzles
– I changed the eartips even with a nice kit.
– The color of the cable could be black (subjective).
– Lack a modular cable (but not necessary).
– The bass could be tighter (subjective).
