INTRO:

I might not be as big fan of full-sized headphones as I am of in-ear monitors, but one thing is certain: the headphones in today’s review are undoubtedly among the most beautiful I’ve ever seen! Among the ones I’ve had the chance to review, they are certainly the best-looking. We are talking about the SIVGA ROBIN SV021 PRO.

This is the second version of the model, the first was the SIVGA ROBIN SV021. Unfortunately, I can’t say whether the sound differs between the two, since I didn’t review the original version. What is clear is that there have been aesthetic changes to the ear cups on this second version – changes that, in my opinion, are for the better.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS:

Construction:

• Aesthetically, it is the most beautiful headphone I have tested (so far).
• Excellent build quality. Great materials.
• Metal-framed headband. Flexible.
• Padded headband (though with few foam).
• Wooden ear cups.
• Closed-back design.
• Headband adjustment: 11 size settings.
• Each setting features a locking mechanism to secure the position.
• Includes a vent on the ear cup (on each side).
• Carrying case: soft-shell (cloth pouch).
• I felt it lacked a hard case, like the one included with the FiiO FT1.
• It would cost more, but it would have greatly enhanced the product’s value.

Pads:

• Center in mesh, sides of synthetic leather.
• Very soft and comfortable.
• The pads are removable (snap-on/clip-in style).
• The pad removal system is simple yet highly effective.
• It would be helpful to have side indicators on the inside of the pads.
• Great internal space, my ears fit perfectly.
• The headband padding is comfortable, though it could use a bit more foam.
• The SV021 Pro pads offer more internal space than those on the FiiO FT1.
• Replacement pads are always easy to find at the official SIVGA store.

Cable:

• Paracord cable.
• Dual 3.5mm to 3.5mm.
• The cable is lightweight and thin.
• Good to moderate malleability.
• Doesn’t tangle.
• No cable memory.
• It has some microphonics.
• The plugs have metal housings.
• I don’t see a need for a cable upgrade (subjective).

Fit and comfort:

• Clamping: Gentle; I didn’t feel any pressure (small head).
• Very comfortable pads.
• Not heavy.
• Good stability.
• It was a bit loose between my head and the headband.
• My head is small, which is why it was loose.
• A headband cover would solve the problem.

SOUND ASPECTS:

Sound:

• Mild V-shape tuning.
• Emphasized bass, recessed mids, slightly highlighted treble.
• An engaging, musical, emotional, fun, and silky sound.
• Tonality vs. Technicalities: Tonality wins.
• I don’t consider it analytical or energetic.
• A comfortable sound, good for long listening sessions.
• The best bass I’ve ever heard in a pair of headphones (so far).
• Good for various musical genres.
• The FiiO JT1 and FiiO FT1 are warmer and have more bass.
• The Hifiman HE400se is more detailed, cold/brighter, and analytical.
• Technically, the HE400se is more resolving (especially considering the price).
• The FiiO FT1 is the main competitor, but I preferred the Sivga Robin SV021 Pro.

Bass:

– Quantitative:

• Moderately elevated.
• Not for bassheads.
• Sub-bass and mid-bass have good presence.
• No overlapping between frequency ranges.
• I like bass, and I really enjoyed what I heard here.

– Qualitative:

• So far, this is the best bass I’ve ever heard in a headphones.
• The bass is prominent, powerful, fast, tight, and well-defined.
• It has great texture and great extension.
• The physical impact is very good, not exaggerated (just right).
• Good punch, balanced perfectly (neither too strong nor too weak).
• It gives a touch of warmth to the presentation without warming up the entire sound.
• It doesn’t bleed into the mids.
• It isn’t bloated, boomy, or muddy.
• It’s a bass response that brings a fun factor.
• Great for EDM, Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock, Reggae, Metal, etc.

Mids:

– Quantitative and qualitative:

• Mids are slightly recessed.
• The pinna gain is smooth and gentle.
• Upper-mids are very comfortable.
• They have good texture.
• Good definition and transparency.
• I experienced no listening fatigue.
• In terms of detail, they aren’t the most detailed I’ve ever heard.
• The HE400se has more detailed mids (in comparison).
• The mids aren’t overly technical, but the tonality is very pleasing.
• I think they are best suited for those seeking more musical mids.
• Wind instruments sound silky and musical.
• Vocals sound smooth and engaging.
• Guitars have a warmer, more euphonic timbre.

Voices:

• Deeper-pitched voices performed better.
• More texture and warmth for low-pitched voices.
• Female/high-pitched voices also sounded good, though they lacked some energy.
• Good for more seductive, melodic voices.
• Recommended for those with a more low-pitched voices library (my case).

Treble:

– Quantitative:

• Moderate treble.
• Not for trebleheads.
• Well-balanced treble.
• Suitable even for those sensitive to treble.

– Qualitative:

• Comfortable, versatile, coherent, linear treble.
• It has good definition and good extension.
• Natural sparkle.
• They aren’t shrill, sharp, or harsh.
• I didn’t hear any sibilance or coloration.
• I didn’t feel hearing fatigue.
• Acoustic guitar sounds very coherent and engaging.
• Bells and ride cymbals present themselves naturally.
• Good for any type of music genre.
• The FiiO FT1 is a little darker (in comparison).
• The HE400se is more lively, bright and detailed treble.

Soundstage:

• I found the soundstage to be very good.
• Great sense of spaciousness.
• Good depth, height, and width.
• The recessed mids enhance the sense of space.
• The HE400se has a narrower soundstage.

Imaging:

• The instrumental separation I thought was good.
• I confess that I thought it was good but it wasn’t something that impressed me.
• It is possible to hear and identify the instruments in their places.
• Here the HE400se is superior, it has more detail and airiness.

Amplification:

• Easy to drive.
• Doesn’t require a powerful amplifier.
• I tested the SV021 Pro with the FiiO KA11 and the FiiO QX13.
• The KA11 drove the SV021 Pro with ease.
• Volume set to 25 out of 100 in Windows 10.
• The QX13 also drove them effortlessly (even better).
• Volume set to 25 out of 60 on the dongle + 100% in Windows 10.
• It’s always good to have a FiiO KA11 or NiceHCK NK1 Max / NK1 Ultra.
