INTRO:
It wasn’t long ago that I reviewed the excellent TWISTURA WOODNOTE and the bullet-style TWISTURA SIGMA… Today, we have an earphone here that really caught my eye, thanks to its aesthetics and the accessories included in the kit. We are talking, of course, about the TWISTURA BETA.
Another detail I noticed is that the BETA is cheaper than the WOODNOTE… which raised the question of whether it might offer the same sound signature at a more affordable price… let’s find out.

UNBOXING:
PHYSICAL ASPECTS:
Construction:
- The shell and faceplate are made of aluminum alloy.
- The nozzles are removable (screw-on).
- It features two vents per side.
- Excellent build quality, very sturdy.
- I found the faceplate aesthetic very attractive (subjective).
- Excellent carrying case. Rigid, with a magnetic closure.
- It could perhaps be a different color – black, maybe? (subjective).
- Great unboxing experience.
- Great accessory kit.
Eartips:
- 3 types of eartips: white, gray, and transparent. Sizes S/M/L.
- It’s a good kit (in my opinion). Good quantity and variety.
- The transparent ones look like TRN T-Tips.
- I did the review using SpinFit CP100s (Size M).
- The CP100s was able to achieve more insertion with comfort.
Cable:
- Modular cable: 3.5mm and 4.4mm balanced.
- Great modular system. Swapping plugs is quick and easy.
- The plug remains compact (small).
- Good/decent malleability.
- Doesn’t tangle.
- Doesn’t get “memory” (creases).
- No microphonics.
- The chin slider doesn’t slip.
- I see no need to replace it (subjective).
- I prefer thinner and lighter cables (subjective).
Fit and comfort:
- Good fit and comfort. Good stability.
- Comfortable earphones.
- Good for long hours of use.
- Very lightweight. They look heavy, but aren’t.
- Medium to deep insertion.
- Great isolation.
- The nozzle might be too wide for small ears (subjective).
- I needed to use thinner eartips to help with insertion.
Earphone kit (accessories):
- BETA earphones.
- 3 pairs of eartips sizes S/M/L.
- 3 pairs of eartips sizes S/M/L.
- 3 pairs of eartips sizes S/M/L.
- Modular cable.
- 3.5mm and 4.4mm bal plugs.
- Carrying case.
- 3 pair of extra nozzles (1 installed).
- User manual, and QC pass.

SOUND ASPECTS:
Sound:
- Clean, detailed, and “forward” sound.
- Neutral tuning.
- An earphone that can be considered mid-centric.
- It is neither an energetic nor a “fun” earphone.
- Linear bass, forward mids, and slightly bright treble.
- Excellent resolution and detail.
- I consider the WOODNOTE to be the superior, although more expensive.
- It is reminiscent of the NF ACOUS NM25 and, more distantly, the Tin HiFi T2.
- It also brings to mind the Fosi IM4, although the IM4 has more bass.
- I don’t think it is particularly well-suited for bass-heavy genres.
- It pairs better with instrumental music or tracks that highlight vocals.
- For its intended purpose, it is an excellent quality product.
- It isn’t my preferred tonality (subjective).
Bass:
– Quantitative:
- It ranges from moderate to moderately low.
- It isn’t for bassheads.
- Sub-bass and mid-bass have a restrained presence.
- No frequency overlap.
- It can be described as neutral/linear bass.
- There’s no universal “neutral”: for some, will be few, for others, will be ok/good.
– Qualitative:
- The bass is clean, fast, controlled, well-defined, and has good extension.
- The texture and physicality are more restrained and controlled.
- The impact is audible but not very strong.
- The bass has a “tighter,” “firmer” character.
- It doesn’t bleed into the mids.
- The bass follows the recording faithfully.
- Bass drum hits are very clean and defined.
- Best suited for music where the bass isn’t heavily emphasized.
Mids:
– Quantitative and qualitative:
- Forward mids.
- Pronounced pinna gain.
- IEM focused on the mids/upper-mids.
- The mids are the star of the show.
- Great definition and detail.
- Great clarity, airiness, and transparency.
- Tends to be cold in this region.
- I didn’t experience upper-midrange fatigue.
- Snare drums sound detailed and forward.
- Wind instruments are presented with plenty of energy.
- Guitars have vitality and great resolution.
- I prefer slightly less pinna gain (subjective).
Voices:
- Excellent for higher-pitched vocals.
- Energy and good airiness for high-pitched voices.
- Great for tenors, mezzo-sopranos, and sopranos.
- Less warmth and texture for lower-pitched voices.
- Lower male voices lack some authority.
- Also great for whispery-style voices.
Treble:
– Quantitative:
- Treble ranges from moderate to moderately elevated.
- Not for trebleheads.
- They are slightly below the upper-mids.
- I didn’t experience treble fatigue (subjective).
- Those who are highly sensitive should take note.
– Qualitative:
- Versatile, defined, and lively treble with good extension.
- Slightly emphasized brightness.
- Excellent detail and airiness.
- They aren’t shrill, sharp, or harsh.
- I didn’t experience any sibilance or peaks.
- There is slight coloration in higher-pitched instruments.
- Guitar solos have great energy and detail.
- The half-moon tambourine has a nice sparkle.
- Ride cymbals have excellent airiness.
Soundstage:
- Good soundstage.
- Mid-centric IEMs tend to be less spacious (isn’t a rule).
- There is always the sensation of vocals being forward, or “close.”
- Good height and width; depth is okay.
Imaging:
- Excellent instrument separation.
- The stereo imaging is also very good.
- The high level of detail greatly aids separation.
- It is easy to pinpoint the position of the instruments.
Filters (removable nozzles):
- I review the sound using the silver nozzle.
- 3 filters: Silver = standard; Gold = vocals; Black = instrumental.
- In my opinion, the filters don’t produce big changes.
- For me, changing the eartips has a much greater impact on the sound.
- I would easily leave them out of the kit to get a cheaper product.
Driver flex test:
- The BETA FLAGSHIP didn’t show driver flex characteristics.
Amplification:
- Easy to drive.
- Doesn’t require a powerful amplifier.
- A DAC/AMP dongle is sufficient.
- I tested the BETA with the FiiO KA11.
- KA11 at 20% (out of 100 on Windows 10).
- I also used the BETA via the 4.4mm output of the FiiO QX13 (25%, D.Mode, High Gain, 100% volume).
- The sound scaled u, the bass became more dynamic.
- To me, with more AMP, it enters in the “Neutral with Bass Boost” class.
PROS AND CONS:
– Great unboxing experience
– Great build quality
– Clean, detailed sound
– Neutral tuning
– Good technical performance
– Great detail retrieval
– Great instrument separation
– Good soundstage
– Easy to drive
– Comfortable to wear
– Good for long listening sessions

– Great cable + modular system
– Good selection of ear tips
– Excellent case
– Bass might be lacking for some
– Cable could be thinner/lighter (subjective)
– Filters don’t make a significant difference
– Thick nozzles make insertion difficult
– Case color didn’t quite match (subjective)
